We were extremely lucky to have a good friend in Montilla-Moriles who was able to source a bottle of this for us. It was a much sought after bottling that few have been able to try.
Of this limited edition we had bottle number 14 of 314 bottles produced in honour of Santiago Jiménez Panadero, the founder of Los Ragiones who died in 2015 at the age of 75.
The Fino Lagar del Cerro bottle, designed by the young Montilla company Bazzar Creativo, reflects the sons appreciation of his legacy and impact that he made on the winery and the Sierra de Montilla.
Fino Lagar del Cerro is en Rama at 15% ABV from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes.
Nose: An intense yeastiness, wood and salted almonds. Hint of olives and lemon.
Palate : Very strong on the palate. Salted almonds, lemons, floral notes. Dried stone fruit with spicy finish with a hint of cinnamon.
This was a stunning wine.
We are not sure if we will be lucky enough to obtain a bottle of the next limited edition just released on November 23rd, but we are certainly going to try when we next visit in January.
Los Raigones is located in the Sierra de Montilla and has been growing its own crops since 1954.
