Official Tasting Notes
Obtained from the controlled fermentation of the musts from the best vineyards of the Denomination of Origin Montilla-Moriles, it is produced by biological aging for 3 years under a layer of yeast (flor) in a Solera and Criadera system made from American oak botas or barrels.
It is a typical Fino wine produced and aged according to the traditional style of the generous Fino wines from the Montilla-Moriles DO.
Colour: Pale yellow colour,
Nose: Intense and delicate aroma to dry fruits especially almond.
Mouth: Fragrant, dry and light on palate.
Food Pairing: Its versatility makes it the ideal pairing fo finor a huge range of typical dishes from Mediterranean gastronomy.
Our notes: On the nose we get hints of green apples, hazelnuts and lemon. The palate delivers what the nose promises lemon, green apples, a subtle yeasty note and some wood influences. Another refreshing delicious fino.
Located in the heart of Montilla, Bodegas Cruz Conde was founded in 1902 by the Army Commandant, Mr Rafael Cruz Conde.
They have 8000 barrels of wine aging on site including including some in the subterranean aging cellar called “El Sotano” – “The Basement” with it’s superior architecture that is unique in the Montilla-Moriles area.
As well as their range of wines, Cruz Conde have the Destilerías La Cordobesa distilling a range of spirits and liqueurs (vermouth, anisettes, brandies, rum, vodka, gins & whisky) in traditional copper stills.
We are very much looking forward to our visit to Bodegas Cruz Conde on May 18th.
