This is a review that slipped through the net so to speak.
Bodegas El Monte is always a go to place when we visit Montilla-Moriles so we had to retrospectively include this.
Back at the Cata del Vino in April 2017 we attended a tasting with Antonio López Cuenca of Bodegas el Monte in Moriles. He was accompanied by sommelier David Núñez from the Hotel Eurostars Palace Córdoba.
2016 Vino de Tinaja
Nose: Green apples with a feint hint of the flor
Palate: Green apples and slightly saline
Fino Los Naranjas – 15% ABV
This has spent 8 years average under a velo del flor and is the little sister of Fino Cebolla
Nose: Slight nose of green apple with salt and yeast
Palate: Salty with slight spiced apple, lemon and citrus notes
Fino Los Naranjas en Rama- 15% ABV
Nose: A stronger nose than the standard version with slight appple and yeasty bread dough.
Palate: Almost frizzante with lemons and apples
Many thanks to Antonio, David, Bodegas el Monte and the team from Consejo Regulador for organising this cracking tasting.
