Bodegas Pérez Barquero – Fino Los Amigos

The Los Amigos Fino has an ABV of 15%, made from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes and is not fortified.

The ideal serving temperature should be cold at 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.

It has spent 3 to 4 years biologically ageing under a velo de flor in American oak casks in the criadera and solera system of the bodega of the same name “Los Amigos”.

Our Tasting Notes – Wine tasted January 2018

Nose: Lots going on with red apple peel, slight yeast, watermelon, unripe banana, grapefruit and almonds.

Palate: We find a salinity, red apples and a lemon finish. There is also cinnamon as in a apple strudel and when it warms up a little there is mandarin in there too.

This does not have the complexity of the bodega’s flagship fino, the Gran Barquero which is more than double the age with 8 to 10 years of biological ageing.

We previously reviewed the Gran Barquero Fino in June 2016 here.

However it is very refreshing and another great example of fino from Montilla-Moriles.
